2005 Banyan Review Poetry Competition

We are pleased to announce that final judging for the 2005 Banyan Review Poetry Competition will be completed by Richard Garcia. Mr. Garcia's biography is available here.

Deadline

January 31, 2005 (postmarked). Winners will be notified April 17, 2005.

Guidelines

  • Entries limited to 3 poems per poet.
  • Poems must not: be previously published; have won a prize; be currently entered in another contest.
  • Subject and form are open.
  • Line limit of 40 lines.
  • Poems must be typed.
  • Entrants who send communications directly to the final judge will be disqualified.

Mail one copy of each poem with name, address, phone number and email address (optional) and the phrase "Banyan Review Poetry Competition" in the upper right corner—and entry fee—to:

Send optional #10 SASE for winners list only. If an email is included then timely notification will be made of decline or publication.

Author should keep a copy of the submission as it will not be returned. Entries that do not meet the guidelines will not be considered or returned.

Entry fee

$5 for one poem; $10 for three poems (check or money order made out to M. Ruiz).

Prizes

First place - $100

Two finalists - $50 each

The first place winner and two finalists will be published in the online magazine Banyan Review (www.banyanreview.com) in June 2005. Rights revert to the author after publication.
